Save with Your Local Library
Utilizing your local library doesn’t mean just borrowing books anymore. Today, our country’s libraries are full of great free family resources.
I can’t speak for all libraries, but the public library system in my city is great. Our library system not only allows you to borrow books, but also audio books on cassette tapes/ CD’s, movies on VHS/DVD and music on cassette tapes/ CD’s too.
I can view the entire catalog online and request items from other libraries to be sent to my local library. I can even request an unpublished book to be held for me when the library has it available. Most libraries now have computers that have internet access and popular programs for their patrons to use.
Many libraries hold free events and classes too. You could visit to get homework help, join a book discussion group, hear an author read their newest book, or watch a puppet or magic show.
At my library, one of my favorite programs is something called the ”Passport to Play” which allows you to visit a local museum for up to 6 people for free.
I’m sure there are many great resources at our local library too, but since I can only tell you about my local library, I encourage you to find out more by checking out your local library system for more information. Here is the national website of public libraries; it lists libraries by state and narrows them by city. http://www.publiclibraries.com/
